Electrostatic spraying refers to a coating method that uses the principle of corona discharge to make atomized paint negatively charged under the action of a high-voltage DC electric field, and then adsorbs on the surface of a positively charged substrate to discharge. Electrostatic spraying equipment consists of a spray gun, a spray cup, and an electrostatic spraying high-voltage power supply.
Features
1.Good construction environment and working conditions. The widely used fixed electrostatic spraying equipment is usually matched with a suspended conveyor to form a continuous coating production line. In this case, the operator's work is limited to the preparation, loading and unloading of the coating workpiece, as well as the regulation and care of the equipment. Therefore, the opportunity for direct contact with the paint and the intensity of physical labor are greatly reduced. Moreover, when spraying in a high-voltage electrostatic field, the diffusion of paint mist is far less than that of pneumatic spraying or airless spraying, which significantly improves the pollution of the coating environment.
2. High paint utilization rate. When spraying in a high-voltage electrostatic field, negatively charged paint particles are coated on the surface of the workpiece along the direction of the electric field. Therefore, there is basically no paint jet rebound and paint mist dispersion, and the paint mist loss is very small. The paint utilization rate can reach 85% to 90% or more.
3.Good coating quality. When electrostatic spraying is carried out in strict compliance with the correct operating procedures, due to the effect of the high-voltage electrostatic field, the paint particles are highly dispersed and evenly distributed in the jet. Therefore, the coating formed on the surface of the coated workpiece is also relatively smooth and uniform, and the gloss and adhesion of the paint film are both high.
4.High coating efficiency. Production practice shows that on the electrostatic spraying continuous flow production line, the conveyor belt can run at a speed of up to 24m/min, far exceeding other spraying lines. For wooden parts with frame structures that cannot be coated by curtain coating or roller coating, such as tables, chairs, frames, etc., the comprehensive economic benefits of electrostatic spraying are particularly obvious. The main disadvantage of electrostatic spraying is the high risk of fire, especially when spark discharge is caused by improper spray distance or operating errors, which can easily lead to fire. Therefore, reliable fire and explosion-proof facilities must be available, and safe operating procedures must be strictly followed. In addition, for surfaces with complex shapes or deep contours, it is difficult to obtain a uniform coating using electrostatic spraying.
Scope of application
1. The scope of application of electrostatic spraying is expanding, from large railway passenger cars, cars, tractors to small workpieces, toys, and household appliances.
2. Electrostatic spraying can also be used in conjunction with electrophoretic coating, that is, the primer is applied by electrophoretic coating, and then the topcoat is applied by electrostatic spraying, and the coating operation is continuous and automated. This supporting construction process has been adopted in the automobile and bicycle manufacturing industries.
