When we buy a house, we often ask the salesman a lot of questions, such as: Is the engine good? How is the interior? Is the lithium battery big, etc. In fact, these are the issues we care about when buying a house. Everyone knows that RVs are much more expensive than ordinary cars, so it is very important to choose a RV that suits your family! However, when choosing a house, there are often some misunderstandings. For example, many friends often choose larger lithium-ion batteries when choosing RV Batteries, thinking that lithium-ion batteries are very convenient, but are larger lithium batteries really that good?
There are two types of batteries on the market: lead-acid batteries and lithium batteries.
Advantages and disadvantages of lithium batteries:
Lithium batteries have obvious advantages in charging and discharging power efficiency, storage capacity, volume, weight, etc., but they also have obvious disadvantages: high price and low stability. The price of lithium batteries is generally 3 to 4 times that of lead-acid batteries, but it is still acceptable for users who buy hundreds of thousands of RV Battery.
What really worries people is its stability. There are frequent incidents of lithium batteries catching fire in domestic RVs. The best operating temperature of lithium batteries is 15~30℃. If the operating temperature exceeds 35℃, its performance will drop sharply, or even "freeze"; when the operating temperature is lower than 5℃, the battery's charging power will be greatly reduced, and even below 0℃, it will be unable to charge. If the charging time is too long, the battery will produce lithium precipitation, which may cause safety hazards such as short circuit in the battery cell.
Although lithium batteries are unstable, as long as they are installed and used properly, the accident rate of lithium batteries is still within a controllable range.
Advantages and disadvantages of lead-acid batteries:
Lead-acid batteries are batteries whose electrodes are mainly made of lead and its oxides, and whose electrolyte is sulfuric acid solution. In the discharge state of lead-acid batteries, the main component of the positive electrode is lead dioxide, and the main component of the negative electrode is lead; in the charging state, the main components of the positive and negative electrodes are both lead sulfate.
The safety of lead-acid batteries and colloidal batteries has been widely recognized, but lithium batteries have a short development time, so there are still many uncertainties in their application.
Lead-acid batteries can discharge the power to a very low level without affecting the battery life, but this type of battery has the disadvantage of storing power compared to lithium batteries, and the size and weight of lead-acid batteries are both large, and the weight is generally 16-30kg.
After choosing a battery, how should it be maintained?
Situation where the RV is not used for a long time:
If you encounter a situation where the RV needs to be put aside for storage, be sure to turn off all the power on the RV and check whether the battery is still discharged.
Because if the RV is not used for a long time and all electrical power is not turned off, then even the smallest power can exhaust the battery. Although the battery has an "over-discharge protection" function, long-term sporadic power will still affect the battery life. Therefore, before we park and seal it, we must check whether the power is turned off, and keep charging the battery once every three months, so as to maximize the battery life.
Abnormal conditions found during driving:
During the trip or driving, if the battery has abnormal noise, odor, smoke or even fire, be sure to stop the car as soon as possible, leave the cab, check the vehicle condition, and call the rescue or insurance company.
If you encounter an open fire, be sure to extinguish the fire. Of course, such a situation rarely occurs. Most people with such problems often never perform vehicle maintenance and battery maintenance, turning small hidden dangers into big disasters. Therefore, daily maintenance of RVs is very important!
Pay attention to "leakage":
The power resources in RVs are very precious. Be sure to pay attention to the "leakage" of small appliances, and reduce the use of products with high standby power consumption, such as mosquito repellents used in summer. In standby mode, it will consume 20Ah a day, so you must develop the habit of using electricity as you use it.
Storage of lithium batteries
The environment for storing lithium batteries should be kept dry. It is not allowed to place batteries in places where water may leak, such as on the ground, to avoid heating leaks and rainy windows causing water to short-circuit the battery pack.
The battery pack should be kept away from flammable, inflammable, and explosive items, and new and old batteries should be stored separately.
