Origin of National Day
On October 1, 1949, the founding ceremony was held in Tiananmen Square, and Chairman Mao Zedong announced: The Central Government of the People's Republic of China was officially established today!
On December 3, 1949, the Fourth Meeting of the Central People's Government Committee accepted the suggestion of the CPPCC and passed the "Resolution on the National Day of the People's Republic of China", deciding that October 1 of each year would be the great day when the People's Republic of China was declared established and the National Day of the People's Republic of China.
In ancient China, the emperor's accession to the throne and birthday were called "National Day".
The term "National Day" was first seen in the Western Jin Dynasty. In the article "On the Five Ranks of Princes", Lu Ji, a writer of the Western Jin Dynasty, once recorded that "National Day alone enjoys its benefits, and the lord worries about its harm.
The most important national celebration in my country's feudal period was the emperor's accession to the throne and birthday, so in ancient times, the emperor's accession to the throne and birthday were called National Day.
Today we call the anniversary of the establishment of the country "National Day".

National Day has been the "Golden Week" holiday in China since 1999. The statutory holiday for National Day is 3 days, and the two weekends before and after are adjusted to a total of 7 days;
On October 1, 1999, the 50th anniversary of the National Day, a grand National Day military parade and mass celebration parade were held. This was the last grand National Day celebration held by the People's Republic of China in the 20th century.
A grand military parade was held on the National Day of 2009 to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China. On the National Day of 2019, a grand celebration of the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China was held in Beijing.
